With 40% of its 850 students at Upper Bucks County Technical School in Pennsylvania having an IEP, and 50% overall being economically disadvantaged, school leaders realized that their instructional staff might need more professional support. They partnered with the nonprofit CAST, who helped instill Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles for both educators and students, including a specialized credential for educators.

The platform can be used across a host of devices and, usefully, can be used by students on their own smartphones, tablets, or laptops. Recently, Gimkit has added a number of new features including laser beam styles, text outlines for clearer guidance, extra props such as the Fishtopia boat, and much more.

OpenAI recently unveiled the next-generation large language model, GPT-5, which now powers ChatGPT and other AI tools from the AI maker. This is huge news for educators and their students because ChatGPT is the most used AI tool and now is claiming to have the most powerful public-facing AI model. The launch of GPT-5 has met with some criticism, however, with the consensus seeming to be that it is more of a routine upgrade type of improvement than the seminal moment in AI development that was promised.

Updated for Back To School 2025: Roblox is a massive online platform where millions of people create and play games and 3D experiences using the Roblox Studio software. This can now be well-used in education with lots of teaching-specific tools and games available. Fun new features have been added to Roblox, including the Learning Hub, which offers grade level- and subject-aligned experiences for students.
